About
I am a painter but often stray outside of its traditional confines when making art. Portraits are a favourite subject matter for they can capture memories of the subject in ways that are both playful and representational of that individual's personality.
My personal practice is rooted in nostalgia (more specifically camp or kitsch) as a means of access to collective memory. I seek to stimulate our collective memory through kitsch narratives in my work because they can be easy to relate to.
Experimenting with different mediums over the years has taught me that art is more often about seeing and connecting, and sometimes less about the end result.
